The Books of Remembrance for Streetly and Ryecroft are permanently displayed in a purpose built cabinet in the Book Room at Streetly Crematorium. They are hand made and bound in leather using traditional methods and decorated with gold tooling and a specially designed seal derived from the Walsall Metropolitan Borough Arms. There is a separate page to each day and the pages are turned daily to show the entries for the day. The Book Room is open each day including weekends and Bank Holidays.
The inscriptions, which are in black lettering with 23 carat polished gold initials in the Streetly book and red initials with black lettering in the Ryecroft book, are hand written by skilled calligraphers. Two line, five line or eight line entries may be chosen, with the latter two options offering the opportunity of including a motif, badge or crest at the side of the entry.
The Books are currently inscribed every 6 - 8 weeks.
